RE: '88 5kcstq no start, continuing problem

I was recently cured of a very similar problem. Unfortunately, I am not
exactly sure what fixed the problem. I dove under the engine, checking
every hose and electrical connection particularly on the left of the
engine (fuel distributor area) and behind the engine by the wastegate
and distributor, replaced a couple of 'suspect' vac hoses and cleaned up
some electrical connections and lo and behold...... it's alive, and it
idles fine now. Right around the middle of the firewall there is a
bracket that holds 3 sets of wires which I believe go to the ecu. I
cleaned these contacts and I think this is where my problem was, but
can't be sure because I did so many other small things at the same time.

One thing you might want to try to get it running is to activate your
cold start valve manually (this is what I did and it worked fine) which
will squirt some fuel directly into the intake manifold. To do this,
you have to figure out which is the ground wire going to the cold start
valve and ground it momentarily while cranking. I actually wired my
cold start valve to a momentary contact switch in my dash, because I was
having so much trouble starting, especially when hot.

Hope I don't attract too many flames from my unconventional way of
starting my car, but hey it works!
