WRT to flashing: I wouldn't reccommend doing it... In NYS it is illegal...
and in my experience, historically has been used to signify to oncoming
traffic that there are problems up ahead (cop, accident, etc)...
Waving: I would wave to others, but I don't bother... usually cause the
traffic is busy enough to justify keeping your eyes on the road at all
times... but most people don't really care that you happen to be driving the
same type of car... That's why I am looking forward to the Q-Decal...
