RE: world's worst brake pads

I have never had a problem with PBR's on a street car. I have used both the
PBR Deluxe and the PBR Metal Masters, I prefer the Metal Masters. I don't
seem to have excessive wear on the rotors and have not seen excessive rotor
wear on customers cars with PBR's, and I have installed a lot of PBR MM on
Porsche, Audi and VW cars over the last 8-10 years. The customers that have
had rotor wear problems had them without PBR's as well, probable driving
style or conditions. I think PBR's are cleaner, quieter, and less prone to
fade than stock Textar, or Jurrid pads. They are less "grippy" cold but this
does not seem to last long for me, I am of course in California where it
never gets cold by most standards. Are they "The" pads to use?? I don't
know. I like them others don't, I have not seen or experienced the problems
others have seen or experienced with them. I will continue to use them for
my Audi because they are very cheap for me to buy (wholesale). I put on a
set of Performance Friction carbon metallic pads from Autozone on my Ford
Explorer 2 weeks ago and these feel like very good pads and the price was
right ($30 w/lifetime warranty).
Like most things brake pads are a compromise and we all must make a choice
based on our needs. I don't need track level pads on my street car but I
have Ferrado pads on my Porsche.

Don't know I never had a problem with the PBR's not
'working' for seconds,
the do have a hesitation feel IME. There would be pedal
feel, but little
'stopping power', then they would kick in full boar. I ran
them in the snow
and had about the same results, first few moments would be a
little scary,
but I never thought it was a matter of seconds before they
worked.

I have the same combe Ate' and PDR, the pads
can be pretty
		darn scary. The
first drive I had with them I realized they
have to warm up
		a little before
they were affective. What I didn't realize
it that going
		off an exit ramp
at 75-80 in the rain was a bad idea. They
were usless for
		about 5 seconds
before they hooked up, I almost %@#* my
pants. I didn't
		think I was gonna
stop. Is this the same issue in the snow?
