My instrument panel lights have stopped working. My mechanic and I have not
been able to correct the problem. We think we've checked everything, but
there must be something else. What do we need to check?

Try the license plate light bulbs! . . . .

Subject: 5KTQ Dash Lites Problem

Well what had been an rare problem is now occurring all the time (isn't
this how problems let you know it's time to fix them ;-)...

Every so often the dash lites will go out, now almost every time I drive
at nite. Sometimes they will come or go while driving over bumps and
such. So I assume that there is a loose connection somewhere... but
where is the question. One odd thing is that sometimes when the lites
are out the climate control lites will go off, all of them even the red
"marker" one. Climate still working just no lites. Other times the CC
lites are uneffected.

I've checked (e.g. rotated and wiggled) the illumination rheostat/dimmer
and that does not have any effect on the dash lite outages.

I recall that there were some posts about a blown parking/marker lite
causing this problem, but I don't think there are any blown bulbs
(although one might go in and out over bumps).

My question is are there any BTDT's out there that can direct me to the
most likely places to check for loose connections or the like that cause
this.

TIA

Steve
