What the he!! is this??

Was just out to rotate the tires on the V8 and found that the right rear
has started to split just next to the bead on the inside.  There's a
narrow
band of little ridges all around the bead and this spilt is in this area.
The crack doesn't go all the way around, but it looks somewhat fresh.
I'm thinking overinflation?

These are Goodyear GA's which are near replacement time anyway.
The max inflation cold is 44.  I put them at about 40 before driving out
from SC because I had the car loaded pretty good.  No other tires appear
to be similarly affected.

Wow, my mind reals at the possibilites, all ugly.  With the load I was
carrying,
a few visits to triple digits.  Up and down the pass here through the
twisties 
just south of the Pikes Peak entrance...

Looks like I'll be buying snows sooner than I thought.  Crap.
