When I was a broke college student, I purchased the cheapest snow tires I
could find... I have since found they performed better than the Blizzacks
that I currently own... (I really don't like the Blizzacks... side bite is
OK... but the dry road performance sucks...)
I bought the Sears brand snow tire (30 apiece) in 95 or 96?... Unfortunately,
I think Sears contracts their brand to a different company each year... I am
not sure if it was a Cooper or a Michelin snow tire (made for Sears) that I
had... but it had good bite, and the side traction for cornering was
excellent...
