.... Then re-insert pump, fill with new gas (we use the old for...), shine
flashlight down access hole, see more silt, btdt. Look, it's not addressed
in the TSB, for good reason. Let it collect in the FF or burn off. I've
done this TSB dozens of times, with no ill effects. The wiping and siphon
routine I did the very first time, and found no difference in the outcomes
(vs just removing filter on pump), long or short term.
The wiping of the tank isn't necessary, and there will be more (how do you
know all the coating is off at any given momemt, you only know you have
enough to clog the filter) before it's all cleared out, btdt. I too first
chased the silt several years ago, figuring the pump should have the filter.
After the second time cleaning the tank, I decided to just do the TSB and be
done with it.
I advocate, the tank drop and wipe is a mess at best, and an EPA and
phlogistic risk, neither of which changes the outcome of the cause or the fix.
