RE: It's Deer season for V8qs
This I can relater to.

Several years back I served on a mountain road to miss a Bambi and ended up
going off the road and through some barbed wire fence. I was in my Datsun
4X4 truck and was able to drive back up onto the road and home. No real
major damage to the truck, dented right front fender, busted grill and
scratches the full length of the right side. My insurance was happy to take
care of the damages but it would be charged against my record and cause my
insurance rate to go up _because_ I did _not_ hit Bambi. If I had hit the
deer then the damage would not have been my fault and not caused my
insurance to go up. But since I took evasive actions and that is how I ended
up in the ditch then the damages were my fault. Of course I did not find
this out until after the claim was started and when I tried to stop the
claim I was told they "could not ignore the accident, it would have to be
placed on my record whether I continued the claim or not". So I got real
picky with the adjuster and got everything I could out of it. I had the body
shop order a fender only and refund the rest of the money ($900) to me and I
installed the fender, never painted it, and found a new insurance company.
Yes you may well have been better of hitting Bambi.
