Re: antenna install

Hi Dave:

Well, what's your call? I'm not fortunate enough to have an A4, as I am still a
poor college student, but do have an 84 4000SQ that has just about every
electronic gadget known to man. As you probably know, a 3/4 inch NMO right
through the center of the roof is the most professional installation. However,
most people don't like drilling a hole in their car. However, let me tell you
from experience that I have installed plenty of NMO's and not a single one has
ever leaked.

On my 4000, I use a Larsen 5/8 2-meter whip for everyday travel back and forth to
school. I have a heavy duty Diamond trunk lip mount with that installs with 4
set screws. I have it mounted on the right side of the trunk opposite the AM/FM
antenna. I also have an NMO to 3/8 x 24 adapter so that I can put on my Hustler
CG 144 2 meter collinear. I only use this antenna when I really need the extra
gain (5.2 db). On the top center of the rear glass, I have a Larsen scanner
antenna, and in the center of the trunk near the glass I have my Big Brother mag
mount GPS antenna. (A lot of antennas, but necessary for the equipment in the
car.)

Let me know if you want any other suggestions or specifics on antenna
installation.
