If you never got an answer on this, the Bilsteins lower the car by 
about half an inch.  Most people consider that a very reasonable 
modification.

I'd find a new alignment shop, try one that specializes only in 
alignments and suspension.  I'm about 30 minutes away from getting my 
200q20v in to a shop in the area which is excellent, but about 2k 
miles too far for you :)  For NE/MA people, Donovan's alignment is 
one of the best shops around.  Everyone knows 'em.
