Using 205 65 15 snows on a 1995 90 sport q

Hi all,

A friend of mine gave me a barely used set of Pirelli snows from a car
his wife totalaled.  I know that they will fit on my 90q but does going
up on size for snows make any sense?  I know in the past I have utilized
taller snows.  So will the wider patch defeat the purpose of using snows
in the first place?  Last dilemma I was going to break down and buy
Hakas till these tires dropped in my lap.
