RE: Odd noise help

Yes, this is the conclusion I have come to this morning on the way in to work. I only had the other side done a couple of months ago ( I paid someone to do it and he said it was a bugger to do) this time around I may take the strut out myself and get someone to press the old bearing out and the new one in. Funny but this bearing was only done a couple of years by the previous owner, and even funnier that both front bearings have gone since I rebuilt the front suspension, maybe it was something I did wrong, although I can't think what, re torqued everything with the car on the ground etc etc.

You are not wrong about the noise either, it's so disconcerting, BTW I used my FBH on the old ISV!!!!!!!!!!!

That's the sound I got last year. Front wheel bearing. Sound was noticeable
from 50mph upwards. The bearing should go on for ages yet - you'll give up
first, that noise is like Chinese water torture. Bastard of a job to do.
First you have to remove the drive shaft/hub locking nut which is a torque
nut, very tight. Then remove the strut and press out the bearing. Doesn't
sound like much does it? You'll need a big press, it can be done with a FBH
and a drift but it took me 3 hours to get the bearing out and another 2 to
drive in the new one - next time I'm going to buy a cheap 10 ton press.

the front rims sorted out, they had to take the tyres off the rims and re
seal it. So today I am driving around along doing 80 mph and I hear this
noise, like a bad wheel bearing when I turn the steering wheel to the left
or right (it is worse when I turn it to the left), it's a kind of wop wop
sound. I get a small amount of vibration through the wheel at the same time.
At lower speeds I don't hear or feel nothing at all, I got the wheels re
balanced at the same time. Any ideas???? Seems like I swap one problem for
another at the moment, ISV last week this week a mystery noise, I wonder
what next week will bring????
