Along these lines, but involving a different platform: If one
(hypothetically...grin) puts an MC into a Coupe GT ('85), which gearbox
should be used? Can the stock CGT box be left in, or must the (stronger?) 016
from say a 5kcst 5spd accompany the new motor?
I would actually like to keep the short gearing from the CGT- it doesn't have
nearly the long-legged feeling of my old 5kcst, but that punch in the lower
gears- nice! And well, it doesn't look as if it would redline 5th till past
140mph- don't know about y'all, but that's enough speed in a Coupe for my
liking. Unless I'm mistaken the 5k had 3.89 final drive and the late Coupe
has 4.90- I'd think the power of the 5k with the Coupe's gearing would be
explosively fast, but hopefully not explosive to the trans innards.
