F1 Windshield Wipers

Soooooo...which year was it exactly when F1 cars had a _windshield_??

Sorry, just had to throw that out there after two posts referring to
windshield wipers on F1 cars...

On race cars where the driver sits in the middle of the car (like F1),
a single wiper in the middle makes good sense. For street cars where
the driver sits off-center, not quite so. For maximum swept area on a
street car's windshield, with preference toward the driver, there is
nothing better than your stock dual wiper system. It works, and it
doesn't have the complexity of the Mercedes single arm system (which
makes it expensive to make and more so to repair).
