CV joints: to replace or not replace

I'm in the middle of replacing the clutch on my 88 5000cstq and decided
to replace the rubber on my cv joints while they were so accessable (one
outer boot was broken all the way around). After dissassembling the
outer CVs and cleaning up I found that they both have grooves running
accross the ball slots and blue spots on the outsides as though the
balls had been really hot.
I know it sounds like a no brainer, but should I replace these joints
even though there was never any noise from them and no slack in the
drive train? The Bently says not to worry about a polished ball track,
but how about a shallow groove that you can feel?

I had already ordered the new boot kits and now i find that new CVs come
with the complete kit. Does anyone know how Carlsen's is on returns?

Your opinions will be greatly appreciated
