Re: Driveshaft play and clunk
Hi Rick. I have the same car (but '89) with the same problem. When I lift
off the throttle, I get a loud "bump" sound from under the hood. It's
especially bad if I lift off abruptly or from a boost situation. I
assumed it was the turbo dumping the unnecessary boost before the sudden
engine change from positive pressure to vacuum stops the impeller. Have
you gotten any responses yet to your post? I'd be interested in hearing
what others' opinions/diagnoses were.
