when a car gets to be over 10 years old (which all 5k and 4k models are), it 
will be as reliable as the person who drives/owns/maintains  it wants it to 
be.  I am not implying anything, but if your daughter is not one to keep up 
with the prev. maint. on her vehicles, then maybe she would be better off in 
a newer, more forgiving car. 
My sister's idea of "preventive maintenance" is keeping at least one gallon 
of gas over reserve in the tank at (almost) all times..  
"oil change?"   what's that?   ;<)    good thing she has a jap car, i wont 
cry when she kills it....
