The problem I have found with these symptoms on the turbo type 44's is with
the dash lamp contoller, located above the glovebox, behind the dash. It
looks like a double-wide relay. Unplug it. Open it up,(carefully) and
there is a ribbon cable which joins the 2 pc boards inside. The heat
generated in the unit makes the solder joints go bad. Re-solder the joints,
and away you go!

I have a simmilar problem with my instrument lights.Funny part is that
,if I turn on the lights with the ignition off,the instr.-lights work
just fine.They will stay on even if I start the engine.On the other hand
,if I start the engine first and then switch on the lights-NO
instr.-lights !?Any hints or ideas are wellcome!
