Home with plenty to do...

I brought home the new to me V8 tonight. Won't lack for things to do
over the next few days:
1. Mileage was around 12 (!). Actually got it up to 20+ a few times
toward the end - holding pedal very steady... Any reasonable increase in

pedal (to pass, for example) produce a massive cloud of black smoke any
Peterbuilt would envy. This was after 4 tanks of 93 and a can of
Techron. I've already bought a new O2 sensor, but I'm also certain
there's more to it than that...
2 (or 1a). At first gas stop, noted the familiar blue cloud wafting from

the hood. I expect 1 or both of the breather hoses are shot, and these
are contributing to the horrid mileage by screwing with the MAF sensor -

input?
3. It has what I would consider the worst rear end alignment possible.
Although it actually tracks straight, the driver's side rear tire is
bald for the first 2.5 inches outer side, and the tread is nearly new in

the middle! PO admitted he had never had it aligned in @.5 years of
ownership.
4. Of course, tires/rims are in order. Anyone have experience with the
Tire Rack Audi knockoffs? At 16 X 7, 35mm they would be about perfect
considering I have G60s and no UFOs...
5. Is it easier to go to Rod for hoses, or Clair/Carllson? BTW - he's
got V8 filters on sale this week, 8.95.
Took it up to 120 once for a few to see how she felt... Not bad
considering the tire condition and alignment. Stayed at 70-75 the rest
of the trip. 611 miles, a hair over 9 hours.
If anyone has moved to euros and would consider loaning me a driver's
side OEM (or selling cheap), let me know... Code pulling starts in the
AM!
