Around the time Audi NSU stopped development of their 2nd-generation
Wankel engine, _Road & Track_ put it this way: for about 2% of the cost
of bringing a new Wankel to market, they could develop a turbo version
of their existing piston engine and be assured of selling every car
carrying it.
