RE: lifters

Ed

Appreciate both replies, I will let you know what happens, I have got an oil
pressure gauge and pressure is very healthy. BTW I got a whole set of
lifters from German and Swedish for £65.00 plus vat (gbp), not wishing to
piss you off of course!!!!!!
Just out of interest where are you in the UK?

Regards

Iain

Subject:	lifters

just came to your latest [post.
One thing that i did notice which I thought was my problem (until I
got the springs out and found no damage) was the surface of just one
hyd lifter was different from all of the rest. - It was all
frosted/scratched as if it's faulty. however I discounted this since
my car missfires badly and doubt that this would cause a mis fire.

have a quick look at all the tops of the lifters.
Also bought a new hyd lifter from vw dealer since i considered that
this could be the problem -£16.50 each!! - that would mean nearly 300
quid just for the lifters!
anyway doubt this is the prob. because mine misfires at the same time
and am sure theis noise is just too loud/worrying to be simply a
lifter.

Also as far as I know replacing the head won't solve a low oil
pressure - this is surely lost in a worn block. Also replacing the
oil pump should increase the pressure. Get a oil pressure gauge
fitted( if u don't already) - gives u extra piece of mind which i
miss with my jetta.
