Re: Fixing vac leak messes things up - solution (hopefully)
Huw & Doyt,
Thanks for all your help on this one.
I went to my mechanic this morning in frustration, - need this thing fixed.
We discussed the problem and the suggestions / theories you guys offered. He
was inclined to agree with O2 sensor and asked if he should order one. I
responded that I would rather know it is bad before replacing, so he armed
me with his copy of Blau's O2 sensor diagnostics. Following their
instructions I pulled the vac line at the fuel distrib for richness test and
a small vac line for lean test. Heard no hiss from either line. WHAT
HAPPENED TO MY VAC SYSTEM????
After mulling this over he came out with me to see that I am not crazy and
to analyze the situation. Just then it hits me. The new Y shaped vac hose I
installed ISV / Intake, etc had a small vac connection at the bottom. Was
this free & clear? I checked & guess what. The receptacle had a thin rubber
film closing the hole. I punctured it with my 3mm T handled everything tool
and problem solved. _BUT_ now my upshift indicator, which began working
properly for the first time upon installation of this new hose, is back the
way it was. Something is still wrong but it beats stalling.
Any ideas? Do I have some hoses plugged in the wrong places. Inquiring minds
want to know
Thanks again for _all your help_,
Jeff
