RE: changed cambelt and lifters now car won't start

Steve

I did notice that the when the two front pulley's were aligned the 0 TDC
mark on the flywheel was about 1 inch to the right of the pointer. Does this
shed any more light????? Thanks so far.

When lining up the engine, it is best to make sure the 0 on the flywheel
lines up with the "pointer" cast into the inspection hole in the
transmissions bellhousing (top of bellhousing right behind the block).
You can be a tooth or so off by using the front mark on the crank
pulley. Also double check the distributor alignment. My guess is that
the engine is timed properly, i.e. crank, cam, distributor out of sync.

You also want to make sure the ground strap to the cam cover was
installed upon reassembly as well as all electrical connections.

HTH!
