Re: 80 Fuel Pump??
Fuel pump. Fun to change. Take a peek underneath, right by the rear
wheel, tucked up nice and high. Look at all the corroded hoses and banjo
bolts. Notice the lovely old filter. Think of replacing them all. Lots
of crush washers as well. Make sure you get everything. Put it together
off the car, then just drop the whole thing at once. I'm going to replace
the pump/filter/accumulator/all hoses/bolts when I find the box in the
garage with the hoses (mis-packed it when I moved this spring). Get a hose
clamp and clamp off the gas tank first. Spray all the corroded bolts you
need to remove and let them soak for a while (after using Kroil for the
past couple months, I am in awe at it's penetrating and loosening
abilities: www.kanloabs.com). Use a rag to cover the wrench when you turn
your head and close your eyes to loosen the fittings to avoid the gas
spray. Don't smoke while you're doing this. Should be easy to do.
