Bob is spot on here. As a matter of fact it has been posted here in the
past that Audi has done studies on the airbags as they have aged and they
have decided to increase the replacement interval to either 12 or 15 years.
Keep in mind that it is difficult to know exactly how any new device will
hold up over time. I'm sure that Audi (and the other manufacturers) took a
conservative line in estimating how long the bags will last.
