Miracle noise fix from Boston...testemonial
Listers,
Last weekend, I had the opportunity to get rid of a nasty noise from my
engine compartment with a great idea from Brendan Barry. His web site
describes removal of the metal actuating rod from the aux vac pump mounted to
the left side of the block, sitting in the car. The only drawback clearly
expressed by Brendan is that the fix, in theory, robs additional vac boost
when accelerating the engine above 3k RPM and dropping the anchor
simultaneously. I could see this being a problem on the track, however after
400 miles this week of Washington, DC beltway traffic and some spirited back
road escapes, this lack of brake pressure never occurred in my car. All of
the noise that I thought was the lifters is gone! Thanks to Brendan for a
good idea and having no fear of removing internal parts of the car. This
really works!
