RE: test driving urS4 tomorrow..

I've owned both. I like the S4/6 better, but it is slightly smaller than
the 200TQ. Springs and shocks (which can be fairly easily changed) aside, I
think the S4/6's body is significantly stiffer than the 200's and will
"handle" or respond to suspension tweaks a bit better.

OTOH, I think the S4/6's head lights alone over the 1991 200TQ make the
change worth while - while I hear some grousing in the S4/6 community about
the cars lights, IMO, like horsepower and torque it falls in the ",,,more is
better category..." while the 1991 200TQ is in the 55hp VW Vanagon, or the
Citroen 2v, or (although I've never driven one, but my imagination tells me
it's got to be true) Trablant "... I can't believe any one would build a
car this fast, and put lights this bad on it." Ditto the climate control
system. I think the S4's is a bit better layout, and worked a bit better
than the 200's.

It's not just you, Taka. The S4 seems smaller inside to me as well, and the
trunk is smaller than the 200q. There is definitely less leg room in the
rear when the front seats are all the way back, but I think they go back
farther than on the 200q. Also, the glove compartment is smaller, and I miss
the driver's knee shelf on the 200q. I must admit I like the new position of
reverse in the shift pattern - it would make it easier to rock the car out
of snow (if I could ever get it stuck, that is :o)
