Re: Identification and nomenclature
This week in Cleveland, Ohio, a black 200 passed me on route 90 and I
noticed a "TURBO" badge made of raised letters just behind the short rub
strip after the front wheel well, where it usually sez "AUDI". The car had
"QUATTRO" on the grill, new style door handles, 4 small rings in the middle
of the trunk lid, and a trunk lock on the right lower tail light assembly.
So it was at least an '89 '90, right?
I didn't look for rounded wheelwell arches or flared fenders, 'cause I
wasn't yet educated by this thread. But I wonder if others have seen Type
44's with a "TURBO" badge on the rub strip? Was this an add-on, or did some
of them come like that? And if so, does it help tell the year of manufacture?
I looked at the 1991 200Q 20v's on Chris Millers website, and didn't see
the described rub strip badge, so I guess it wasn't a 91.
