Sunroof Problems '86 4000s
Hi,
Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions on the power mirror repairs,
after changing 6 wires (4 of which were broken!) they both work now! I
also got my cruise control to work, although the clutch release valve is
currently disabled due to a vacuum leak, so I just took it out and jumpered
the wires. I'll stop by the parts store tomorrow to see how much one is.
On to my question. My power sunroof is really a PITA right now. It
doesn't seem to be centered on the track or something, because it won't
stay shut properly, and is very hard to open or close (I have to
force/guide it with my hand while moving) This is mainly on the
open/close, rather than the tipping up function. However, when closing the
roof from the tipped up position, i don't seem to get everything fully
lined up. At highway speeds, the wind forces one corner up a bit to where
I can actually see daylight through it. I don't know what to do about
this. If anyone has any experience with this sort of repair, i'd really
appriciate it. Is this a repair that I could handle (my friend and I are
pretty handy) or should it be left to Walt's VW/Audi repair up the
street?? I'm assuming that the belt drive is off a bit or something like
that, but I could be totally off.
Thanks
jon
