RE: Identification and nomenclature

I beg to disagree, Rex. I have a 1988 90 with the trunk lock to the right
side tail light. Unless my lock is broken, it is a one handed operation.
(I only lock and unlock the car with the central locking.) With the car
unlocked, press the button and then with the same hand lift the trunk. It's
unlocked.

The trunk lock would certainly be in the way on a pre-88 car. For
the
88 model year Audi moved the trunk lock to the right side tail
light,
and added the 4-ring emblem to the center.

And... A real PITA... Makes a one handed operation into a two handed
to open
the trunk. I liked the old way better. I would have been happy with
the
"rings" off-center. I supposed there was an engineering reason, but
none of
my old style locks have ever failed.
