Audi Spotter's Guide: any Audi 'historians' on the List?
Hi all,
As some of you might know, I'm working on part of my web site forming the
Audi Spotter's Guide, tracing the history of all Audi models from the early
'70s to the present, and detailing differences between US and European
versions of a model. The idea is that this will be the front end for the
audifans.com FAQ for each model when it's finished.
I'm kind of anal about the photographs and would really like sharp, clear
pics of unmodified examples of every model (not that the examples currently
on the site are necessarily good examples of this description...). I've
been photographing all kinds of Audis on the streets here for years, and
have used some press and brochure pics for some models. With the help of a
couple of listers, I've managed to collect most Audi models.
See
http://members.tripod.lycos.nl/AudiJunk/model_codes.html
For an overview of what I've done so far. There are more pics already
scanned, but waiting to be prepared for the web. Text is not final, just a
couple of remarks- I've still got to verify the model years and add the
info for the US. Any suggestions are welcome.
I'm however still lacking front and back three-quarter pictures of the
following cars:
-Early-'70s US Fox
Isn't there _anyone_ who has such a car (in decent condition) in the
neighbourhood, or a couple of good pics in a book/brochure? I know there
are pics in the Brooklands Audi book, but those are B&W...
-Early-'80s US 4000
I have straight-on front and side views, but would really like
three-quarter views... maybe (if no-one on the list has one of these cars
in original condition) scans from a brochure?
Also, if there are listers with nice pics of a two-door 4000 or 80, I'd be
interested, too. An 80 Sport would be nice...
-type 85 Coupe Quattro (my own pics are 'slightly less than ideal') ;-)
-US-model 100LS (I have some pics of one, but that has the hood open. Looks
a little untidy)
-Late-'70s to early-'80s US 5000
Any listers with the original four-headlight arrangement still in place on
their car?
-Late-'70s to early-'80s Euro 100 Avant
This was the hatchback-like 100, type 43. I'll look for a brochure if all
else fails, but would like an alternative.
-US 5000 wagon (both turbo and non-turbo)
I have no pics of this car at all. Plenty on the list...
-US 200/200 Avant
There are a couple of pics of nice 200s in my collection which I
photographed at Pikes Peak and Monterey, but all have some modifications.
I'd like some pics of original cars.
-US A6, both first and second generation
-US A6 Avant, both first and second generation
I think there are a couple of listers who have the first-generation A6. If
you'd like your car on the Audifans site, please send me a couple of pics!
-US S6/S6 Avant
Again, I know there are a couple of owners on the list.
Preferably, I'd like pics to be taken in broad daylight, without
obstructions in front of the subject and the car on hard standing, and of
undamaged, standard cars without non-OE spoilers, lights, wheels etc and
with doors, hood and trunklid closed. Images need to be at least 600 pixels
wide, and without too much JPEG compression artefacts (high-quality
setting). If you don't have a scanner, snail-mail me the pics and I'll
scan. I'll also take pics if they don't conform to all the criteria above,
but better pics lead to a better site.
Anyone willing to contribute? You'll get full credit, of course. I'll
notify the list when the section is up and running. Please, contribute- the
site for the q-list needs as many pics of listers' cars as possible!
TIA a lot!
Tom
PS If you have pics of your car better than the ones currently on the site,
I'm always interested. And, as always, suggestions/volunteers very welcome!
