[88 Q90]--ECM?
Hi, everyone...
Yesterday, my 88 Quattro 90 quit suddenly (in the middle of a busy
city street, naturally). I smelled a rather strange, acrid odor, but
saw no smoke. It began missing immediately before it died, which I
attributed to water in the gas, at first. I was down to 1/4 tank,
though, so I doubt it's that simple. (I did put some Dri-Gas in, so
we'll see.)
After the car sat for 30 minutes or so, it started on the first try.
It only went for another two blocks before it died again, however.
Same symptoms this time: acrid odor, bucking/missing, stall. Sit a
while, start, repeat.
Does this sound like the (gulp) ignition control module? I shudder
to think what this will cost if it is!
I had the car towed home, BTW, so at least I can work on it myself.
I did have to rent a car, though, to get home myself.
As always, thanks in advance!
