Hey, Lefty, can you move the rod from the vacuum motor if you disconnect it
from the lock? On my "new" '91 200, the trunk lock wouldn't move with the
key, and the central locking system, while functional on the doors,
wouldn't budge the lock either. I took the lock to a locksmith, who said
all it needed was lube to make it turn with the key, so I also lubed up the
lever the central locking system operates and got that to move properly
too. Now I can lock the trunk with the key or use the central locking
system. The vacuum-operated lever appears to have a spring-loaded ball
and detent system to maintain whichever position the vacuum motor is in.
It was frozen pretty solid until I soaked it in some WD40. I used a
razorblade knife to sneak some lithlube onto the ball after I got it broken
loose.
