There are two types of strut found in boneyards - shot and missing.
At our local yard, the rods used to hold the spare wheel underneath one
of the French cars have been found ideal - they have bends like the
classic manual strut at both ends. The experienced mechanics walking
around (it's about fifteen acres) can be detected by the toolbox in one
hand and one of these rods in the other.
