Has the US 99 A6 the same clear polycarbonate lenses the European version
has? If so, they're actually less prone to breaking than glass items are.
My brother's VW Bora (same type of lenses, Bora is the European name for
the new Jetta) had a close encounter with another car, which clipped the
Bora's nose. All metalwork around the headlights was crumpled, headlights
were aimed for Mars and Australia respectively, the lenses were severely
scratched- but not a crack.
