Hey Everyone,
I think I can officially say that project 4ktq is done. I
still have some minor things to work out (mainly cleaning up the interior,
wiring, a little painting on Core support) but the mechanicals are
done. THe car has been running for a few weeks now but had a few issues
that needed dealing with. THe biggest problem was I Had major misfire on
boost for a while but found out the Warm up Reg. was totally shot and my
control pressure was only about 20psi. WAY rich. Now its up around
58psi and runs great. THe other problem was WAy to much boost. It would
go to 10-12psi Immediately at only 1/2 throttle. No leaks
anywhere. Turns out that the lower WG hose was plugged. It didn't leak
at all but had partially collapsed and plugged itself. Replacement fixed
the problem.
I'm getting a solid 7psi of boost (no intercooler yet) now and the car
seems to run great. I'm a little limited at high RPM (above 5,500 and I'm
not sure but this may be a factor of the cam that the KH has. I may try
the MC cam to see if it helps. THe head is ported so it should flow well
at high RPM. Any comments on this???
Anyhow, I'm a very happy man right now and looking forward to
driving it. I Just installed the first hood pin (now have custom removable
core support) and am slowly cleaning up the car5 and working out the bugs.
Only question so far is this, when I FIRST floor it, the mixture
jumps lean for a second and then goes rich. Is this normal??? It goes
lean for maybe 1/2 second and then goes up to slightly rich where it
should be.
ANyhow, I hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving.
