re 90q sloppy shifter

PN <pajono@ctconnect.com> asked:

The shifter in my 90q is awful: tons of slop, and can be pulled up a good
1/2" or more. Looking in Bentley (Fiche 5 34.5) it looks like the only
place where the play could be is in the ball housing. Do this sound
reasonable? Any bushings elsewhere in the linkage that I should check
before ordering this part (which is probably pretty expensive)? Anyone know
of a rebuild kit?

There is also a rubber assembly between the tranny and the connecting link
to the shifter. It can become very flabby. It is part of the link, so you
have to buy a new one.
