how do you remove the speedo from a '89-'91 200?

while i attempt to correct the intermittant speedo in my '86 5kT, i also want 
to see if i can fix the same prob on my friend's newly acquired '89 200T.  
I know how to get the speedo cluster out of the '88 down 5k, but have no clue 
about the speedo removal on the '89-'91 200.  do i have to pull the strg 
wheel like on the 5k? I'm scared to hell about setting off the airbag....
and another thing...what posessed Audi to change all the fasteners to Allen 
head in '89??  what a pain...
