Heated Seat Problem

The driver's side heated seat in my '88 90q is not working.  Previously the
dash switch was broken.  I replaced the switch with a new one, but it
doesn't light up and the heated seat still doesn't work.  I looked at the
archive and found info on repairs to the seat, but I'm thinking that
something isn't quite right in the dash wiring since the new switch light
won't even work.  Any ideas?  By the way, the passenger side works fine.
