Bose Audio and car stereo stuff

Car audio people please correct any mistakes I make.

That said, the Bose stuff is all running at 3 ohms, so there really
is no elegant way to make the stuff work. I've seen adapters so that
you can use outboard amps, but that requires speaker replacement.
I think you have to, at the very least, trash the amps and speakers
and you'll have to use some adapters that will introduce noise into
the system and generally reduce the sound quality. Otherwise, to do
it right, you trash the whole system and start from scratch.

On a related note, can someone tell me how the weird stereo system
works on a 5kcstq? I don't have my Bentley manual yet (on order from
alldirect.com for $105 shipped!) and I have some stuff that I want to
install in my car:
Sony ES CD head unit
Boston Acoustics 5 1/4" components
Boston Acoustics 6x9" rear deck speakers

I know I'll have to do some cutting for the deck speakers, but I'm
wondering how extensively I'll have to rewire the stereo in order for
me to use an outboard amp (although I'll run off the head unit for now,
probably) and just these speakers. I can't imagine the 10 speaker system
to be that good for imaging, as you have speakers going all over the place.
I like the concept of using front speakers for soundstaging and imaging,
with the rear deck speakers for fill. Any better concepts, please tell me.
Also, I'm thinking of figuring out how I can run all the speakers off of
a 2 channel amp running at 2 ohms. I know if I get a PPI or similar quality
amp, it can run at 2 ohms all day long. Then, it's just a matter of getting
the front and rear bias set, although I don't know how to do that. If I
need some sort of electronic crossover (big bucks, I think), then that's
out and I'm back to a 4 channel amp at 4 ohms. Any suggestions on good amps
and how much power I need for this big car? I also plan on doing a sub at
some time in the future. Does anyone offer something like the JL stealthbox
for the 5k/2c?

Thanks and I hope I answered part of Ryan's question,

Second: Bose audio system. Am I right that the rear speakers run on one amp?
(as opposed to the amp/speaker units in my 200T) The problem is that he says
he's blown that amp. He says a guy at an audio store (ie Hifi Buys or
equiv.) says that he can put an MTX amp in there. (I'm sure its _possible_
but I'm talking with minimal modifications) Also, would the Bose head unit
work with an aftermarket amp on Bose speakers? I know that if he did change
the head unit it would reek hell on the front speaker/amp units.
