Rear defroster question.

OK, tried to use the rear window defroster this weekend and nothing.

Car: '93 90S
Checked:
Switch backlights when the headlights are turned on, but does not light
when the switch is depressed. I can hear the electro-magnet inside
clicking. Pulled the switch. The "ON" light is not burned out. The
diodes present on the PC board check out OK. Plugged it back in without
the housing, the electromagnet definitely activates when the switch is
depressed.

Does the defroster circuit have a relay in it????? I'm thinking a relay
went south, or if the switch serves that purpose, then the switch must
have  I looked all through the "family picture album" and could not find
anything, NOTHING! The only thing I could find was the rear glass with
the heating grid.

Help Please! It's a real pain not having the rear defrost and mirror
heaters here in the "Great White North".
