Well, by my calculations, I could bore-and-stroke the engine out to 4.0L for 
$2,500-3,000 ... while the process is fairly straightforward, there would no 
doubt be unexpected problems to deal with and it's unlikely I could find an 
extra 100hp from 400cc of additional displacement.  A custom set of cams will 
cost $1,200+ and the few remaining sets ABT has on the shelf run almost $3k 
... way too much for my blood.

On the other hand, a pair of used turbos and intercoolers, an adjustable fuel 
pressure regulator and some misc. tubes, hoses, custom machine work, etc. 
should cost less than $1,500 and easily generate an extra 100hp.  As much as 
I'd hoped to leave them behind, there's nothing like a turbo (or two!) when 
it comes to making midrange torque.

Still, nothing's definite at the moment.  I'm just exploring my options very, 
very carefully...  ;^)
