Re: 89 200 Speaker removal.... the answer

Dan,
you sure your measureing correctly. 4" speakers Dont measrue
4". Just like a 10" subwoofer usuaally only measures about
9" across. You have to measure the entire cone, down the sides, and back
up the other side to get an accurate measurement. Not just straight
accross the top. The 3.5" speakers most companies sella re 3.5", they
just measure 3" across the top. Thats all. But I spose some companies
actually have legit 3' speakers marketed ast 3.5's but I'm not sure.
just lettin you know in case you didnt know this.

Actually, they are TRUE 3.5" speakers. When you buy an aftermarket set of
3.5" speakers, they are really 3" speakers desighned to also fit in a 3.5"
enclosure. They fit fine, but ARE smaller. But, compare it to a 4"
speaker! The OEM speakers are definately smaller than a 4". It would be
a
hard fit, but you _can_ (with a lot of determination) fit a 4" speaker up
front in the 200.

I agree with you though. The only good location for speakers in that car
are in the doors. Do a nice component set. Too bad I have to cut holes
in
the door panels, but oh well, small price to pay for good sound. But,
like
you, these 3.5" (well, 3") will work fine in the meantime.

Later,
Dan
