Changeing lock set A4, odometer change

After the theft and recovery of my A4 1.8T the dealer recommends I have the
lockset changed. This is quite a costly affair +_$2000 and I find it
surprising that they cannot reprogram the keys and the corresponding
receiver. Any advice here?. In addition if one does change the lockset one
needs to change the receiver and one has an opertunity to change the
odometer reading to whatever you want. Is the odo change logged in the
engine management unit ie is the fact that you have changed the odometer
traceable by VAG 1551?
