V8 engine in type 44

I've been thinking about replacing the old diesel engine in my car
with another engine. The 2.2 liter I5 is a nice choice, however, the
V8 would have been really nice. I know that only the 3.6 manual block
will bolt up to a 016, but as those engines are _really_ hard to find,
I wondered how much work is needed to install a 3.6 or 4.2 automatic
block onto a 016..  I know that many things need some work to do such
a transplant, but will the cooling system of the diesel (50% bigger
than I5 gas cooling systems) be sufficient for the V8? How about
electronics?
