Suggestions for accomodations in Munich

Hello all -
I'm attending the QCUSA Audi Winter Driving School (won the trip) and need
suggestions on where to stay in Munich. My father and I are arriving on the
20th of Jan, and need to stay somewhere for the 20 & 21. Any suggestions?
Not knowing anything about Europe (first trip there), we are asking just for
a place that has US-style amenities (bathroom in rooms, etc). We aren't
looking for white-glove treatment, but youth-hostel type hotels aren't a
choice either.
