<4kq/5kq> Re: Crash Test Results for Older Audis, and a Dodge Colt
good posts on the safety of later model audis
I for one will continue to drive audis the type 44 saved my father's life and
the type 85 mine.
1987 5ktq avant straight into a stalled car at roughly 70 mph, passenger
cabin not even crushed my father walked away, and the front end of the 5k was
maybe a foot and a half shorter, rental car that was hit was totaled. car has
been rebuilt and continues to run strong.
my 1986 4kq suffered a similar fate due to my inexperience in a snow/ice
storm. into a tree down a hill with a curve. passenger cabin was crushed but
only the drivers side was crushed badly due to a bad angle. the engine went
back crushed the battery but did not go further. worst part was the the
steering wheel came back to meet me causing a grade 3 concussion, but that
was the worst. many people do not believe that i could have lived thru it
when they see a picture.
btw funny thing is engine was still running about an hour later when they
found me...guess that shows the 4kq got a strong heart eh?
Essentially all accidents are a combination of luck and the safety of the
cars that we drive, I will continue to drive Audi's with their electrical
problems and need of TLC because i feel safer in every aspect of the word
safe. Had these accidents occured in say...a honda my father and i would most
likely be dead. i thank audi for keeping me alive
