i actually have seen a pic of a head on collision between a mid '80's Volvo 
wagon, and a mid '80's VW Vanagon (Caravelle).  The Vanagon basically jumped 
the hood of the Volvo, and tore thru the windshield into the cabin...  would 
not want to be the driver of the Volvo in that accident...
