Mystery connector on '90 200 Q

I recently bought a '90 200 Q Wagon and found a white two prong connector with
wire that is not connected to anything.  It's located just behind the engine
block on top of the bellhousing.  Is this a test connector that is not supposed
to be connected, or did someone remove a sensor from that area?  It looks like
there is something missing on the top of the bellhousing.

BTW, I have already fixed countless problems thanks to the info on this list.
