RE: 0-60 What??

I apologize if I got the attribution incorrect.

What does "ricing up" a 4.2 have to do with superior performance?
If I see someone put tons of stickers, chrome Neepers and a coffee
can exhaust on an A6 4.2, I'm going to have them committed to a mental
institution.

Apparently, Nothelle or someone else in Germany makes a nice twin-turbo
kit for the 4.2L V-8. That would fix any 0-60 concerns. In an S8, the
twin-turbo kit yielded 0-60 in something under 5s, I think 4.8 or 4.9s.
This was with a 6-speed manual, though. I don't know how much slower the
Tiptronic would be, if the Tiptronic can handle that kind of power.

If you have to spend $60k for the A6 4.2, I'd rather buy the A6 2.7T for
$44k and spend the $16k difference on mods. I'd be over 350hp with a nice
6-speed, brake upgrade, suspension upgrade, intercooler upgrade, chip and
exhaust. Then we'll see how good the M5 is.

    Ok, lets face it, you pay $60k for one of Audi's flag ship models with
310 hp, it is not unreasonable to want to be able to out accelerate a Toyota
Corolla.  I have a feeling that the drivers did not extract the most out of
the 0-60 time in that test...8 seconds seems really slow for that car.  The
A6TT does it in about 5.9, and I have read that the 4.2 is a little behind
that.
